What to Expect
-
What can I expect in my initial consultation?
During your initial consultation, your provider will want to get a sense of issues that you want to work on in therapy so that they can ensure that they are within their scope to treat. They will also share a bit about their style of therapy and give you an opportunity to ask questions to ensure you feel like the therapist is a good fit for you.
-
What types of therapy do providers at Introspective Collective provide?
At Introspective Collective, we offer a range of styles to meet you personal needs. Our therapists are trained in evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Somatic Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Mindfulness, and Brainspotting. Services can be tailored to your unique needs. For example, some people prefer structure, skills and homework and some prefer more of a talk therapy style to process their challenging emotions and reactions.
-
What can I expect during my first appointment?
The initial appointment is an assessment. We explore symptoms and issues that bring you to therapy, the history of these issues, and an overview of your upbringing, relationships and life stressors, in order to get a more full picture of what is going on.
-
What to expect after my first session?
You and your therapist will make a treatment plan in which you set goals for therapy, consisting of measurable goals for outcomes so that you and your therapist can gauge progress over time.
You and your therapist will decide how often to meet and schedule further appointments depending on your needs. After your first session, you can expect to have a clearer understanding of the issues you are facing and how they have impacted your life. Your therapist will provide you with insights and perspectives that can help you gain a deeper understanding of yourself and your experiences.
-
Treatment Planning
Throughout the therapy process, your therapist will regularly check in with you to assess your progress and make any necessary adjustments to the treatment plan. This ensures that you are continuously moving towards your desired outcomes and that the therapy remains effective and relevant to your evolving needs.
The frequency of your therapy sessions will be determined based on your individual circumstances and preferences. Some individuals may benefit from weekly sessions, while others may find that bi-weekly or monthly appointments are more suitable. Your therapist will work with you to find a schedule that works best for you.
-
What to expect going forward?
It is important to remember that therapy is a collaborative process, and your active participation is crucial for achieving the desired results. Your therapist will provide guidance and support, but it is ultimately up to you to apply the insights and strategies discussed in therapy to your everyday life.
As you progress through therapy, you may experience a range of emotions and insights. It is normal to feel a sense of relief, as well as moments of discomfort or vulnerability. Your therapist will create a safe and non-judgmental space for you to explore these feelings and navigate through any challenges that may arise.
Overall, therapy is a journey towards self-discovery and personal growth. With the support and guidance of your therapist, you can develop the skills and insights needed to overcome obstacles, improve your well-being, and create a more fulfilling life.
